The Coptic
Orthodox Church Diocese of Melbourne and Affiliated Regions was established with
the ordination of His Grace Bishop Suriel on 4th December 1999. This Diocese
covers Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Australian Capital
Territory, Tasmania and New Zealand. It is the largest Coptic Diocese in terms
of geography and its community has been growing quickly in last few decades.
This web site was built on the faith of providing a spiritual
resource for the Coptic Orthodox community in the Diocese. So what will you find
here exactly? Information about His Grace
Bishop Suriel's background,
multimedia content of the ordination and his monthly schedule. An extensive
Diocese directory for the
local clergy and churches, monastery, schools, theological college, hostel as
well as links to worldwide church directories. A section is dedicated to various
multimedia
content like virtual reality, video, and audio which includes
material from our current radio broadcasts. All the
church news for important
events and developments will be posted for people of all ages. An area of the
site will dish out news on ecumenical work both locally and internationally so more copts can
understand what with have in common with other churches and develop closer ties.
This web site will provide many christian articles as it is a major priority of
His Grace to promote Christian education
and produce faithful christians. Part of the church mission is
to educate non-copts about
the riches of our traditions, faith and spirituality in the Coptic Orthodox
church. Also, regular
publications
by the Diocese will be available for viewing like the bimonthly
magazine Epsajee (the word).
